Dr. Marie M. Daly Award
Call for Nominations

Dr. Marie Maynard Daly, the first African American woman to earn a Ph.D. in Chemistry, was honored with an ACS National Historic Chemical Landmark at her alma mater, Columbia University, on May 19, 2023. 

The New York ACS is calling for nominations for the 2027 Dr. Marie M. Daly Award whose purpose is to honor outstanding active professionals in the fields of chemistry and chemical engineering who are high achievers in research careers in academic, industrial, or government settings and who have a demonstrated record of successfully mentoring and supporting individuals from underrepresented groups to pursue careers in the chemical sciences. Nominees need to be active professionals in the United States or the United States Territories who are members of the American Chemical Society in good standing.

Nominations for the 2027 Daly Award are due on June 2, 2026.








Prof. Angel A. Marti named Inaugural Recipient of the Dr. Marie Maynard Daly Award
Dr. Angel A. Marti (Rice University) was named the inaugural recipient of the  Dr. Marie Maynard Daly Award of the New York Sectionof ACS. An exceptional academic,researcher, educator, mentor,and unwavering advocate for diversity and inclusion in science, he exemplifies the very ideals this honor represents. His journey and contributions serve as a powerful source of inspiration for K–12 students, undergraduates, and early- to mid-career scientists from similarly underrepresented backgrounds.
